Valve to release a prototype steam box and several steam engines in 2014

Following the announcement of SteamOS, Valve has just unveiled the long awaited Steam Box - more or less. Instead of releasing a steam box valve brand, the company really work with multiple vendors to publish a series of steam for your living room.

However, Valve also presented a specific prototype, a steam Valve designed. This particular team is closer than anyone expected. For now, only 300 copies will be produced and sent to beta testers fortunate. The company did not say whether those prototypes eventually become the steam box, but it would not surprise anyone.

As for steam, Valve promises "a series of specifications, price and performance." It could be very similar to the Chromebook lineup. Customers will be presented with various levels of performance - should make it easier to buy a team of traditional game. Hardware hackable and you will be able to install another operating system, for example.

As a reminder, SteamOS is an operating system based on Linux for your living room. It is optimized for gaming, movies and music. While many
games
are not available on Linux, SteamOS lets you stream your games from your Windows or Mac machine using the local network

Today's announcement is very short and does not say OEM actually building steam. All we know is that they will ship in 2014 The prototype of the mark of the valve could reach previous beta testers that the company selected beta testers on October 25.

In the Steam website, users can find a teaser page three icons representing three different ads for the living room - SteamOS and steam engines were only the first two ads. Valve hints at a new input method for third. On Friday, the valve should answer the last question of standing - game controller that will ship with steam engines?
